As part of a student’s learning experience with us, it is important to arrange for suitable accommodation prior to the student’s arrival in Singapore. Our Admissions & Operations Division staff will be able to assist students to make arrangements at various student hostels and will advise students on the current rental rates and what to look out for when renting a place.
Upon reporting to the College, the student is required to complete their admission formalities. Once that is complete, the student will be brought for their medical check-up if applicable.
Our staff will bring the students to the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority of Singapore (ICA) to complete their Student’s Pass formalities.
a.) Orientation Day
After the administrative formalities are completed, the student will need to report to college on their orientation day. On this day, the students would have to attend a briefing so that they can have a better understanding of their study programme, expectations from the college and be conscious of the laws of Singapore. Once the orientation briefing is over, the student will have their facial recognition recorded for their daily attendance at college.
The orientation programme for new students is a process of transformation whereby a new student is initiated into the culture at SHRM. In the initial orientation session conducted during the first week of the new term, new students are briefed on:
- Vision, Mission, Culture and Values of SHRM
- The SHRM-ian Family (Organisation Chart)
- The approach to a successful academic and professional career
- Details of Courses and academic policies
- Assessment policy including appeals process
- Academic progression
- Career progression
- Attendance policy and procedure
- Course deferment
- Transfer, withdrawal and refund policy and procedure
- Expulsions
- Personal grooming and uniform
- Discipline and personal development
- Medical insurance and healthcare
- Fee Protection Scheme
- Student grievance procedure and dispute resolution

b.) Activities for New Students
The college will organize activities such as Beachside BBQ, Movie Outings or a Buffet Lunch to allow new students to meet their fellow course mates.
The College assists students who are required to do medical check-ups, or who wish to apply for a phone line or internet or open a bank account. The College will also provide food and transportation guidance to students to make their transition easier.
During the period of study, students who require further assistance can approach the Academic Division staff, their respective mentors or lecturers. Students who need pastoral care or emotional support will be referred by the Admissions & Operations Division to the College’s external counsellor. Students who require urgent mental health support may also contact the National Mindline (1771), Samaritans of Singapore (1-767) or the Singapore Association for Mental Health Helpline (1800-283-7019).
If students need any letter from the College to verify that they are an existing student of the College or for any other official matters, they can request it from the Admissions & Operations Division.

We want all our students to be successful in their studies and eventually, career. As part of a student’s educational experience with SHRM, each student will be assigned a mentor upon commencement of their course. The mentor may be the student’s lecturer, Programme Leader or the Director, Academic Division. The mentors will advise students on issues they may face during their course of study with us. The mentors will meet students at least once every term to discuss students’ progress in their course.
